Day 71

Today was Nathaniel's 1st Christmas Program at preschool!!!  He was SOOOOOO CUTE!!!!  I LOVED every moment!!!  He was shaking and grinning!!!  He was the CUTEST "STAR" EVER!!!!
I helped with the craft for the 3 year old class this AM and I think I came up with an AWESOME idea!!  I made the snow globe for MC a few weeks ago using mason jars (TUTORIAL) but we could not afford to buy mason jars for the entire class SOOOOOO I decided to use some old baby food jars to make them!!!

Isn't he SOOOOO STINKIN CUTE?????

I went and bought tiny snowman figurines from walmart (50 cents) and some ribbon!!!  I spray painted the tops red and then Todd drilled a hole in the top of the lids!!!   I hot glued the snowman to the bottom of the jar and let the kids add their snow!!!  I tied a ribbon through top and then hot glued the ribbon around the edge!!!
 EASY PEASY!!! and CHEAP!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE him!!!

See you tomorrow for
DAY 72!!!!

Chaotic Christmas Day 70

Chaotic Christmas Countdown
Day 70!!

Ok...I have to be TOTALLY HONEST!!!  It has been ONE HECK OF A DAY!!!!  Can you believe we only have 10 days until CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!  WOW!!!! I have SOOOOO many things that I have to accomplish over the next two days that I had to pull in reinforcements!!!   So I have convinced an AWESOME friend of mine to feature her
CHRISTMAS SWIRL COOKIES!!!!  ;)

Jenn comes Don't Mess With My Tutus!!!! You have to go check out her site!!!! She is SUPER DUPER talented and I love being inspired by her!!!!  The Christmas Swirl Cookies are "To DIE for!!!"  Take a look at her recipe!!!!
These are one of my all-time favorite Christmas cookies!  They are so festive and FUN to eat make!!  I hear they are great with coffee, but since I don't drink coffee . . . you'll just have to see for yourself and let me know!  They are GGGREAT in milk!
Christmas Swirls
1/2 C Crisco
1/2 C butter
1 C sugar
1 egg
3 C flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 T water
Sift dry ingredients together and set aside.  Cream, butter, shortening and sugar.  Add egg, vanilla and water.  Beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients.  Divide dough into thirds.  Add 6-8 drops of red food coloring to one of the thirds and 6-8 drops of green food coloring to the other third.  Blend food color into dough (I use my hands) until color is uniform.  Roll each portion of dough out onto waxed paper.  Stack your three layers of rolled out dough on top of each other.  Roll together lengthwise in jellyroll fashion and use waxed paper to wrap and chill dough for several hours or overnight.  Cut in 1/8" slices and bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Makes 3-4 dozen.

THANK you Jenn for bailing me out!!!  I owe you big time!!!
See you tomorrow for
Day 71!!!

Day 69!!

Ok....you know how when you see something and you can NOT wait to make it???  WELLLLLLL.....this is one of "those" projects!!!  I had seen two different projects and I combined them!!  LOL!!!  One was a sled with a cupcake from Frost Me Blog  and the other was a tag from One Charming Party!!!!!!

SNOW SLED CUPCAKES!!!!

YEP, YEP, YEP.....they are ADORABLE!!!!!

TUTORIAL!!!

First...make your cupcakes!!!  I used a BOX CAKE!!!!! (Pick your mouth up off of the floor!!!)

Then I made Butter Cream Icing:

Ingredients

  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons whipping cream

Directions

In a standing mixer fitted with a whisk, mix together sugar and butter. Mix on low speed until well blended and then increase speed to medium and beat for another 3 minutes.
Add vanilla and cream and continue to beat on medium speed for 1 minute more, adding more cream if needed for spreading consistency.

Frost your cupcakes!!!!

Then make ROYAL ICING:

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces pasteurized egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups confectioners' sugar

Directions

In large bowl of stand mixer combine the egg whites and vanilla and beat until frothy. Add confectioners' sugar gradually and mix on low speed until sugar is incorporated and mixture is shiny. Turn speed up to high and beat until mixture forms stiff, glossy peaks. This should take approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Add food coloring, if desired. For immediate use, transfer icing to pastry bag or heavy duty storage bag and pipe as desired. If using storage bag, clip corner. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 3 days.

I place my ROYAL icing in a baggie and cut the tip to frost with!!!  Pipe a line along your candy cane!!  I propped one up while I propped the other but it would be easier with 2 people!!!  The ROYAL icing will hold the graham cracker in place!!!!

Then place your graham cracker on top of the candy canes!!  I added a dollop of icing to sit the cupcake on!!!

Once your cupcake is on the "sled", add a candy cane with a dollop pf icing  on top and then place a red M&M on top!!!!
TOOOOO STINKIN CUTE!!

Hope to see you tomorrow for
DAY 70!!!!!!  ;)
